2016 Halloween-O-Thon

In another horrifying edition, the Halloween-O-Thon returns to the Upper Valley.

2016 Prompt: “Where is that sound coming from…”

In this video competition you have three weeks to write, shoot, and edit a freaky 5-minute horror short, which will premiere in scary spectacle at the Loew Auditorium in the Black Family Visual Arts Center on Sunday October 30th. Whatever it is – Creature Feature or Paranormal Pic – we want you to slay us with your terrifying masterpieces.

Online and in-person registration is open from Thursday, September 1st  through Friday, September 30th for this horror short film competition. Connect with us if you have any questions.

Collaboration with the Hopkins Center

This year’s collaboration with the Hopkins Center is part of the Hop’s Community Venture Initiative (CVI), which provides new opportunities for Upper Valley residents of all ages to create, access, and explore the arts. CVI builds on the Hop’s commitment, over its 50-year history, to community-oriented programs involving a strong network of local organizational partners, like CATV.

Key Dates

Thursday, September 1 – Online Registration Opens
Friday, September 30; 5:30 pm  – Mandatory Kickoff meeting and Registration Closes
Saturday, October 8 – Filmmaking Workshops at CATV taught by Dartmouth students
Monday, October 24; 3 pm  – Films are Due

October 30 – Premieres 1pm: Junior High and Adult/College films; 4pm: High School films

 

Halloweenothon 2The video competition begins after the kickoff meeting on Friday, September 30th. Teams have 3 weeks, until Monday, October 24th, to create a 5-minute horror film. There will be two premieres each followed by an awards ceremony on Sunday, October 30th at the Loew Auditorium in the Black Family Visual Arts Center adjacent to the Hop at Dartmouth College.  The films are due by 3 pm Monday, October 24 at the CATV offices.  The premieres on October 30 are free and open to the public. No tickets necessary.

CATV will be offering cash awards for the winners in each category.

First place: $200
Second place: $150
Third place: $100
