The 2021 CATV Halloween-O-Thon is DEAD ON ARRIVAL!

Close your eyes. Hold your breath. Stay perfectly still…

Now, scare us to death in under 5 minutes!

Get some friends together and create a scary, thrilling, chilling, suspenseful, horrifying, terrifying movie on the theme DEAD ON ARRIVAL.  Then, walk the red carpet! Win prizes!

Films will premiere Saturday, Oct. 30 at 7:30pm at the historic – and probably haunted – Briggs Opera House in downtown White River Junction, Vermont and stream online.

No time like the present to get started… submissions are due Oct. 16.

Prizes will be awarded to amateurs or pros alike in the following categories:

  • Students in grades 6-12
  • Adult (anyone over that)
  • Audience Favorite
  • Others TBD

Registration fee is $20 per team, payable by check, cash or credit card.


1. Keep it under 5 minutes.

2. Cast and crew must be volunteers.

4. Keep it legal, part 1: Entries must be original work of the team and must NOT infringe on other’s work. Copyrighted music is not allowed unless you have approval from the rights owner. Proof of written permission must be shared with final film submission.

5. Keep it legal, part 2: Films may not contain defamatory statements about any person, company, organization or entity; may not invade privacy or other rights of any person, company or entity; may not violate applicable laws & regulations.

6. Keep it legal, part 3: Talent release forms are the responsibility of team leader and must be available upon request.

7. Note that all submissions will broadcast on CATV television and will be uploaded to our various media libraries (video on-demand, social media platforms, etc), so make sure you have the rights for all elements used in your film.

8. Keep it PG:  We challenge you to scare us without being obscene, indecent, gory, or depicting drug use.

  • Final film must begin with 5 seconds of black, followed by a title card that states:

    (Team name)
  • Deadline for final films is Saturday, October 16th by by 11:59 pm.
  • All films must be submitted digitally. Submit your final project as a QuickTime (.mov) or .mp4 via Google Drive, WeTransfer, or send video as an attachment to to
  • The movie file resolution and format should be HD 1920 x 1080.

Our judges will consider originality, artistic merit, technical merit, and adherence to the assignment.
