Executive Director

Community Access Television (CATV), is the public access media center for five towns in New Hampshire and Vermont: Norwich, Hartland and Hartford, VT and Hanover and Lebanon NH. In addition to recording and distributing town and school board meetings for each town, CATV provides the Upper Valley with digital video production and post-production services, free access to video equipment and software, training on producing digital video, and cable television channels for local distribution of non-commercial content. In addition, CATV supports and creates community-driven media through education outreach and provides extensive coverage of critical town meetings in each town and distribution on cable television and the Web.

CATV seeks an Executive Director to build the organizational capacities to deal with the rapidly changing technological and public access issues.

CATV’s Executive Director reports to the board and is responsible for all aspects of nonprofit management, including program and strategic planning, fundraising and development, communications, staff supervision, grant and contract management, and financial oversight.

The ideal CATV Executive Director candidate has the following characteristics and skills:

  • A demonstrated commitment to the core values of community media (diversity, freedom of expression, an abiding belief in the value of community media, etc.)
  • A visionary who can partner with the Board of Directors in achieving CATV vision and mission
  • The ability to build, inspire, and manage effective teams
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated capability of building collaborative relationships that further the strategic goals of the organization

Profile of the Ideal Candidate

Proven Leadership in a nonprofit or business

  1. Track record in development of new funding sources.
  2. Supervises daily operations of the community access channel, equipment and facilities.
  3. Provides clear and concise reports to assist the Board’s decision-making process, and implement directives of the Board.
  4. Work with area schools to provide and support media education.

Excels in Organizational Management

  1. Supervises all staff including scheduling, performance reviews, training and development.
  2. Oversees all financial reporting and accounting including payroll, expenses, financial statements, audit scheduling and tax reporting.
  3. Develops opportunities for production and other earned income contracts.

Experience in Public Relations/Advocacy

  1. Serves as primary spokesperson for CATV, oversees the development of promotional material and actively participates in special events, speaking engagements, and other media and community forums.
  2. Monitors telecommunications policy changes and legislation at a local, state, regional and national level as it effects PEG access.
  3. Works with the city, cable management companies, and legal representative to renew revenue contract, as required, to assure CATV funding is maintained.

The ideal CATV Executive Director candidate has the following level of experience:

  • Three or more years experience of senior supervisory experience in a nonprofit or business.
  • BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience

The salary will be appropriate for a community media center of this size and commensurate with applicant’s qualifications.  A benefits package will also be included.

We are currently accepting resumes for a part-time position we have available on our government videographer team.  Must have a valid driver’s license, lift up to 45lbs, and be available to work nights. The more videographer experience you have, the better.  Experience with live video and audio recording is a plus. If you have enough experience and are a fast learner, we can teach you the rest.
