The Briggs Opera House welcomes community arts groups of every kind to present performances in the historic theater in downtown White River Junction, VT.  CATV has partnered with the Briggs to provide facilities management, with optional media production services.  Learn more about producing your show at the Briggs here.

The Briggs Opera House offers a highly versatile and storied performance space centrally-located in historic downtown White River Junction, Vermont for community arts groups of every stripe.  Recent productions in the Briggs include shows by JAG Productions, Here in the Valley, We The People Theater, White River Ballet Academy, White River Indie Films, Interplay Jazz and more.  The Briggs has also hosted local graduations, workshops, candidate forums, music jams, and burlesque.

A 240 seat theater, it is larger than most venues in the area but small enough to feel intimate. Founded in the 1890s as the Gates Opera House, when White River Junction was a booming railroad hub, it fell into disuse after World War II and became retail space in the 1950s. After the closing of the JJ Newberry department store, the opera house was reopened in 1985.

As of Oct. 1, 2021 the Briggs is partnering with CATV to provide facilities management and optional media services.  Here’s how it works…

Step 1:   Complete the Briggs Venue Request (Below)

Upon receiving your request, the Briggs Opera House staff will contact you with a rental agreement and to confirm your dates.  (If schedule conflicts arise, we will explore options with you.)

Step 2:   Schedule a visit to the Briggs

Schedule a visit with CATV’s Senior Producer Chico Eastridge for a tour of the Briggs to discover options for configuring the space, learn what equipment is available, and explore media options (including media integrations, live streaming, or recording).

Step 3:  Confirmation

When you have returned your signed agreement and deposit and made contact with Chico, the Briggs staff will confirm your production and lock your scheduled dates.

Step 4:  Technical Orientation

At this point, the appropriate production crew (technical director, stage manager, etc.) will be required to attend an orientation with Chico Eastridge.  (CATV can help you find stage crew as needed.)

Step 5:   Lights Up

Upon completing the technical orientation, your production staff will receive keys and gain full use of the facilities on your start date.
